An App That Could Save Your Life!

In partnership with TIP Medical Communications, Defero is in the process of completing a multi-faceted mobile application project for a major pharmaceutical company. The application, developed in three different versions to service an audience of physicians using iPhone, Blackberry and Android operating systems, will extend the pharmaceutical company’s brand while providing convenience to physicians and their peers by allowing them to more effectively gather and store information.

Fore the Kids!

Defero sponsored and attended Our Mother of Sorrows’ Tucson-based golf event to support exceptional local students who were competing in the Science Olympiad held at the University of Illinois. The 15 member team competed in 46 different events against 120 teams from around the nation. Defero helped raise $7,000 for the participants in addition to donating all services including building online registration and email deployments to support the event.

Defero Around Town

COO Andy Parnell joined a panel of valley leaders earlier last week at the Phoenix AMA Monthly Luncheon. Speaking on the topic of ROI and finding the right balance, Andy shared some Defero best practices pertaining to measurement metrics within the digital space.

On Saturday, Defero took a company trip to catch the Phoenix Coyotes in action. We had a fantastic time at the game, and were able to enjoy it in the company of friends Ed Brice of Lumension and Anna Brice of Pinnacle Marketing. Thanks for a great time guys!

Over in Reno, Nevada, Defero President Mickey Lucas and his wife Tonette Lucas represented Defero at the annual Big Brothers, Big Sisters Gala dinner at the Grand Sierra Resort. This past weekend, Defero headed out of the office and onto the green for an incredible showing at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. In addition to enjoying the game, Defero had the pleasure of hosting clients and friends from companies Right Guard, Henkel, Arizona Kidney Foundation, GameTech International, Marsh Insurance, Admire Plastic Surgery, SAIC, Streets of New York, Lumension, and Alliance Bank. We’ve got new talent! Please join us in welcoming two new members to the Defero Team- Michelle Reyes and Natalie Grimberg.

Michele is our new Web Design Intern, and a Defero-proclaimed social media guru. She is a soon-to-be advertising graduate from the Art Institute of Phoenix, and will be putting those skills to work as she helps the Creative team with her design experience and expertise.

Natalie is joining the team as another Marketing Services Intern and proud Sun Devil senior. She will be graduating from Arizona State University in May with a degree in Marketing, while grabbing a Certificate in International Business along the way.

Bernstein & Associates Goes Live

In partnership with our friends at B&P advertising in Las Vegas, Defero is proud to announce the launch of Bernstein & Associates’ new Web portal. The Web site, created in conjunction with Nevada’s leading personal injury lawyers, boasts several progressive features, some of which include custom lead generation tools, live chat, an intranet with multiple document exchange tools, a custom blog, and tools for internal, partner and media communication. The site was developed to support Bernstein & Associates’ multiple online and offline marketing initiatives, including the mobile marketing campaign that Defero is currently executing.

AAF Guerrilla Marketing Luncheon

On February 4th, Defero had two of its very own, Mike Rodgers and Scott Patten, speaking at the AAF Phoenix Luncheon. PDFA Contest

The Partnership for a Drug Free America, Arizona Affiliate engaged Defero to launch their annual “Represent If You’re Above It” Contest where contestants submitted a photo and an accompanying quote that describes how they stay above the influence. A panel of judges were invited to vote for the best six entries and those entries are now online and available for public voting to determine the 2010 winner.

Wheeling Island

In collaboration with our strategic partner, Marshall-Fenn Communications, Defero is partnering with Wheeling Island, a casino, hotel and racetrack located in West Virginia, on an Internet marketing campaign and digital direct mail initiative. Wheeling Island is looking at Defero to increase site traffic through various SEM tactics and ultimately to increase their database through this five-month long campaign.

Originally launched for National Home Furnishings Month, the “Is It Home Yet?” campaign finds its home on this site that acts as platform for user generated content, videos, and industry expert articles for users to check out throughout the year.

Promotional Solutions for Sun Microsystems

Defero brought its marketing savvy out of the digital arena and onto the football field for an event sponsored by Sun Microsystems on November 23, 2009. Sun Microsystems sponsored a flag football game that matched the employees of CDW, a leading reseller of computer hardware, software and supplier, against CDWG, the government leg of the business.  Defero was tasked with providing customized jerseys, footballs and trophies.

Avnet 16” B2B Softball Desert Classic

This Saturday, the business people of the Valley will be dusting off their softball equipment to compete in Avnet’s 7th Annual 16” B2B Softball Desert Classic, and the Deferoans are ready to achieve athletic glory. Teams from various companies are playing in this tournament to raise money for scholarships for Spark of Hope, a charity benefitting disabled children. Additionally, a celebrity game between the XTRA Sports 910 personalities and the CEOs and presidents from local companies will take place at noon. Blessings in a Backpack

This month, Defero launched the Blessings in a Backpack Web site as a part of the agency’s pro-bono, community efforts. This rapidly growing charity gives backpacks loaded with food every Friday to students in need. There is enough food in each package to feed the students over the weekend eliminating childhood hunger in 18 states in the country. Streets of New York- Win Free Pizza for a Year Campaign

In the past month, Defero rebranded the Streets of New York email family as part of the MySTREETS initiative. We believe that today’s youth will shape our future. That is why our CEO—Eric Brandt—and Business Analyst—Angelica Kenrick—spent a day volunteering at Junior Achievement BizTown. WIGA Golf Tournament

On September 10th and 11th, 7 Cedars Casino hosted the annual Washington Indian Gaming Association (WIGA) golf tournament in Sequim, WA. Representatives from 15 different Native American casino properties were in attendance as well as representatives from many supporting industries. The festivities included a Thursday night mixer and Friday’s golf tournament; both were held at the Dungeness Golf Course owned by the 7 Cedars Casino. Defero President Mickey Lucas and CEO Eric Brandt attended and enjoyed the company of some of the industry’s biggest players.

And the Winner Is…

Over 25,000 votes later, the people have spoken - and they have chosen to vote Yes to Excitement! The Casino Rama Vote campaign came to a close and saw unprecedented participation and engagement. Working in conjunction with Marshall Fenn Communications, Defero constructed a voting micro site to which other traditional media pointed users to participate in this faux election campaign. By the end of the campaign, the Vote micro site saw over 80,000 page views, over 1:30 average time spent, hundreds of Players Club sign ups, thousands of organic email opt ins, and a well-established viral and social audience. While the close of this campaign is bitter-sweet, Defero is excited with the results and glad that the people have voted Yes to Excitement!

Initiating Change

Defero recently redesigned the site for Initiative One: Institute of Business Leadership. Initiative One works to initiate positive change through open communication within organizations. The new site features an iOne Media Center, complete with video, audio, and news clips, as well as a product gallery where visitors to the site can learn more about and purchase Initiative One’s products and/ or services. Initiative One also assigned Defero to do their email deployments. Going Global

Blessings in a Backpack

Defero is excited to announce that Blessings in a Backpack is Defero’s pro bono client for the year and is proud to help this non-profit organization throughout their Web redesign. Often, children who receive free or reduced cost meals at school don’t have enough food on the weekends. Blessings in a Backpack is a non-profit organization that helps them by filling their backpacks on Friday afternoons with easily prepared food. They currently feed over 11,500 children in seven states! Getting Voters Excited

Defero has just launched a new drive-to-web campaign for Casino Rama, one of the leading casinos in Canada. The campaign is one more example of the fully integrated results achieved through our partnership with Marshall Fenn, a traditional agency out of Toronto, Canada. This fully comprehensive campaign uses all forms of media from TV and billboard to bus wraps to drive Casino Rama patrons to the newly launched micro site. All these efforts get people excited about the campaign between Johnny Cliff and Lester Plainfuss, the two characters vying for votes on either the Yes or No for Excitement platforms, respectively. A+ for G+

Defero was recently tasked with creating a reinforcement campaign for G+, WMS Gaming’s most long-standing and successful video slot platform. “Some things in life are constant” is the tag line Defero created that is reflective of the trust slot managers have in G+ and WMS’ continued support. The viewer can peruse the latest theme galleries and download that theme’s marketing package or take it a step farther by entering the Marketing Kit area where they can download an entire Casino marketing kit. The kit ranges from traditional direct mail and posters to digital Web banners and in-casino videos. On February 1st, 2009, Andy Parnell was promoted to the role of Defero’s COO. In only a short year at Defero, Andy has demonstrated a level of expertise across multiple divisions as the Solutions Architecture Executive Director which more than qualifies him for his new role at Defero. Andy has over a decade of experience in the technology sector with experience ranging from sales and marketing to project management and partner relations. Defero Makes a Splash

Shasta Pools called on Defero’s managed email expertise for two campaigns to wrap up 2008. The first campaign was aimed to improve Shasta’s managed email program by gathering more information about their current lists and segmenting them based upon preferences. The second, a series of promotional holiday newsletters involved specific targeting and segmentation to drive recipients to an RSVP system and an in-store event. Teeing Off for Teen Lifeline

Defero’s Executive Director of Solutions Architecture, Andy Parnell, co-chaired the 2008 Firetag Invitational on December 5th. Andy created this annual event three years ago to benefit Teen Lifeline, whose mission is “To provide a safe, confidential and crucial crisis service where teens help teens make healthy decisions.” The event was dedicated to the memory of Jules Firetag, the first president of Teen Lifeline’s board and advocate to those in need. The event successfully raised more than $15,000 and has contributed more than $50,000 in its three-year run. Defero encourages its employees to donate their time and money to local nonprofits and is proud to support Teen Lifeline.

Collaboration for a Cause

Defero is partnering up with Knoodle, another Phoenix-based agency to launch a new Web site for the Arizona Kidney Foundation (AKF). The new Web property will serve as an interactive information portal and will assist AKF (an affiliate of the National Kidney Foundation) in their continuing efforts to provide financial assistance to Arizona’s chronic kidney disease patients and their families. As part of a new parternship with Kahala, Defero is happy to announce the launch of iMix America, a Cold Stone Creamery National Campaign focusing on the use of social and viral techniques in the QSR (Quick Serve Restaurant) marketing arena. iMix America pairs high school contestants with local Cold Stone stores, creating a national competition. Consumers can get an iMix code after purchasing a Cold Stone creation and vote for contestants and their personalized creations online. Bullies Beware

Live from New York it’s Monday night!  Defero ventured to the Big Apple to donate Webcasting and video expertise at the International Cyber-bullying conference.  Defero was live, Webcasting the keynote speakers and taping much of the breakout sessions.  Using the InterCast Interactive Interface allowed Defero to accept questions from a cyber audience.  Microsoft and Verizon helped promote the cutting-edge event, and the Today Show was onsite to cover the conference.

FoalCam Goes Global

The Midwest Training Center is the largest Arabian breeding operation in the world and the busiest importer and exporter of Arabian horses in the United States. Defero and Midwest installed a sophisticated Web camera system in its foaling stalls to allow their staff to monitor the mares and to give clients access to the live foal births. Midwest consulted with Defero to make the Midwest foal camera a live feed for the public, providing technological expertise while granting global access.
