Is It Home Yet

To help transform a house into a home, Defero launched the “Is It Home Yet” Web site for World Market Center Las Vegas. The site features tips and trends that help guide people through the process of decorating a house. Originally launched for National Home Furnishings Month, the “Is It Home Yet?” campaign finds its home on this site that acts as platform for user generated content, videos, and industry expert articles for users to check out throughout the year.

Raving’s New Digital Partner

Defero is excited to announce that we are partnering up with Raving Consulting, a casino marketing consulting company, as its digital partner. Promotional Solutions for Sun Microsystems

Defero brought its marketing savvy out of the digital arena and onto the football field for an event sponsored by Sun Microsystems on November 23, 2009. Sun Microsystems sponsored a flag football game that matched the employees of CDW, a leading reseller of computer hardware, software and supplier, against CDWG, the government leg of the business.  Defero was tasked with providing customized jerseys, footballs and trophies.

A Recap of G2E

Avnet 16” B2B Softball Desert Classic

This Saturday, the business people of the Valley will be dusting off their softball equipment to compete in Avnet’s 7th Annual 16” B2B Softball Desert Classic, and the Deferoans are ready to achieve athletic glory. Teams from various companies are playing in this tournament to raise money for scholarships for Spark of Hope, a charity benefitting disabled children. Additionally, a celebrity game between the XTRA Sports 910 personalities and the CEOs and presidents from local companies will take place at noon. Blessings in a Backpack

This month, Defero launched the Blessings in a Backpack Web site as a part of the agency’s pro-bono, community efforts. This rapidly growing charity gives backpacks loaded with food every Friday to students in need. There is enough food in each package to feed the students over the weekend eliminating childhood hunger in 18 states in the country. Streets of New York- Win Free Pizza for a Year Campaign

In the past month, Defero rebranded the Streets of New York email family as part of the MySTREETS initiative. The “Win Free Pizza For a Year” Contest email campaign was also part of this revamped endeavor. Now, the campaign has come to a close and has seen participation in the hundreds. BizTown

We believe that today’s youth will shape our future. That is why our CEO—Eric Brandt—and Business Analyst—Angelica Kenrick—spent a day volunteering at Junior Achievement BizTown. Junior Achievement is an international organization that teaches kids how to create and manage wealth, better communities through business and empower people through entrepreneurship. Have you entered into Streets of New York’s Win Free Pizza for a Year sweepstakes yet? If not, you better hurry since the contest ends on October 15th. The contest works by forwarding the “Win Free Pizza for a Year” email to as many friends and family members as possible. WIGA Golf Tournament

On September 10th and 11th, 7 Cedars Casino hosted the annual Washington Indian Gaming Association (WIGA) golf tournament in Sequim, WA. Representatives from 15 different Native American casino properties were in attendance as well as representatives from many supporting industries. The festivities included a Thursday night mixer and Friday’s golf tournament; both were held at the Dungeness Golf Course owned by the 7 Cedars Casino. Defero President Mickey Lucas and CEO Eric Brandt attended and enjoyed the company of some of the industry’s biggest players.

And the Winner Is…

Over 25,000 votes later, the people have spoken - and they have chosen to vote Yes to Excitement! The Casino Rama Vote campaign came to a close and saw unprecedented participation and engagement. Working in conjunction with Marshall Fenn Communications, Defero constructed a voting micro site to which other traditional media pointed users to participate in this faux election campaign. By the end of the campaign, the Vote micro site saw over 80,000 page views, over 1:30 average time spent, hundreds of Players Club sign ups, thousands of organic email opt ins, and a well-established viral and social audience. While the close of this campaign is bitter-sweet, Defero is excited with the results and glad that the people have voted Yes to Excitement!

Commitment to the Community

Initiating Change

Defero recently redesigned the site for Initiative One: Institute of Business Leadership. Initiative One works to initiate positive change through open communication within organizations. The new site features an iOne Media Center, complete with video, audio, and news clips, as well as a product gallery where visitors to the site can learn more about and purchase Initiative One’s products and/ or services. Initiative One also assigned Defero to do their email deployments. Going Global

In a continued partnership with traditional marketing agency Marshall Fenn out of Toronto, Canada, Defero is creating an advertising sales portal for Quebecor Media Inc, a broadcasting, communications, and publishing company operating a variety of subsidiaries including canoe.ca and Sun Media.  QMI operates many publications, both print and online, and Defero will help them streamline their online ad sales, increase revenue, and ultimately enhance customer satisfaction.

Rising in the Ranks

Defero is proud to announce that it has been able to leap ahead of many of the more mature agencies in the valley in terms of ranking in Phoenix Business Journal’s Book of Lists. Blessings in a Backpack

Defero is excited to announce that Blessings in a Backpack is Defero’s pro bono client for the year and is proud to help this non-profit organization throughout their Web redesign. Often, children who receive free or reduced cost meals at school don’t have enough food on the weekends. Blessings in a Backpack is a non-profit organization that helps them by filling their backpacks on Friday afternoons with easily prepared food. They currently feed over 11,500 children in seven states! Defero is working with the organization in an effort to increase awareness and drive donations through a restructuring and renovation of their current Web site. Getting Voters Excited

Defero has just launched a new drive-to-web campaign for Casino Rama, one of the leading casinos in Canada. The campaign is one more example of the fully integrated results achieved through our partnership with Marshall Fenn, a traditional agency out of Toronto, Canada. This fully comprehensive campaign uses all forms of media from TV and billboard to bus wraps to drive Casino Rama patrons to the newly launched micro site. All these efforts get people excited about the campaign between Johnny Cliff and Lester Plainfuss, the two characters vying for votes on either the Yes or No for Excitement platforms, respectively. This campaign is a great example of how to use all available media, digital and otherwise, as well as build awareness through leveraging social media. A+ for G+

Defero was recently tasked with creating a reinforcement campaign for G+, WMS Gaming’s most long-standing and successful video slot platform. “Some things in life are constant” is the tag line Defero created that is reflective of the trust slot managers have in G+ and WMS’ continued support. The viewer can peruse the latest theme galleries and download that theme’s marketing package or take it a step farther by entering the Marketing Kit area where they can download an entire Casino marketing kit. The kit ranges from traditional direct mail and posters to digital Web banners and in-casino videos. Casino Rama Live!

After many hours of hard work and relentless effort, Defero is happy to announce the launch of Casino Rama’s brand new Web site. Through an ongoing partnership with Marshall Fenn, Defero was commissioned to completely renovate Casino Rama’s Web site, and the team could not be happier with the results. The new site is not only aesthetically pleasing, using a variety of interactive and user-focused features and functionality, but it also incorporates a truly integrated Web platform, tying in five distinct players club levels to provide super-served content and information based upon individual user preferences. Defero is excited to announce its new relationship with GameTech International, the world’s leader in electronic Bingo based out of Reno, Nevada. Defero was tapped for an extensive campaign with a variety of objectives among which are repositioning the brand in the international marketplace, reaching new verticals, tradeshow and event management, productization, sales and marketing collateral, advertising and digital marketing. Defero kicked off this new relationship by launching GameTech’s new advertising and creative campaign at Bingo World 2009 in Las Vegas.

Getting Involved

In keeping with Defero’s goal to maintain relevancy both today and tomorrow, CEO Eric Brandt has recently become an active member of both the American Advertising Federation and the International Association of Business Communications (IABC) . Traditional Meets Digital

Defero’s continued partnership with Marshall-Fenn proves to be an excellent example of how a digital and traditional agency can work together with continued wins. Most recently, Toronto-based Marshall-Fenn and Defero have collaborated on projects for Mt. Sinai Hospital as well as Sun Media , one of Canada’s largest newspaper publishers. Marshall-Fenn tapped Defero’s digital expertise to extend the range of services offered to these clients, further extending their value and standing as a full-service agency.

The Bright Side of Things

Defero’s own Eric Brandt, CEO, was featured in a Phoenix Business Journal aritcle late January that suggests the economic downturn is not slowing down everyone. The article features several local advertising, marketing, and public relations firms like Defero that are experiencing, as Mr. Brandt put it, an inverse relationship with the current economy. Despite the state of things, Defero is keeping quite busy and is both hopeful for the future and eager to see what exciting new things are to come.

Oh, the places you’ll go…

On February 1st, 2009, Andy Parnell was promoted to the role of Defero’s COO. In only a short year at Defero, Andy has demonstrated a level of expertise across multiple divisions as the Solutions Architecture Executive Director which more than qualifies him for his new role at Defero. Andy has over a decade of experience in the technology sector with experience ranging from sales and marketing to project management and partner relations. He has vast experience in brand development and creating a presence in target markets while driving revenue and managing partner solutions, leading Defero in progressive thought processes through the confluence of his tech, marketing and public relations skill sets. Defero looks forward to having Andy take the helm as COO helping the company leave its footprint as Defero moves into new and emerging markets.

A Hole in One

Defero held its fourth annual FBR open event earlier this month. At the 16th hole, Defero hosted clients who all helped benefit to the Thunderbird charities. The beautiful weather was just the icing on the cake that helped make this event such a resounding success.

iMix Congratulations

Defero wishes to congratulate Kevin Fry of Arizona who was announced as the official winner of Coldstone Creamery’s iMix America contest . Special recognition goes to Noelle Malindzak of California who came in second place with her Berry, Berry Chocolate iMix creation. The contest was driven by online votes from customers for their favorite contestant’s iMix Coldstone Creamery concoction which garnered over 6 million impressions to the iMix Web site.

Defero Makes a Splash

Shasta Pools called on Defero’s managed email expertise for two campaigns to wrap up 2008. The first campaign was aimed to improve Shasta’s managed email program by gathering more information about their current lists and segmenting them based upon preferences. The second, a series of promotional holiday newsletters involved specific targeting and segmentation to drive recipients to an RSVP system and an in-store event. Defero is excited about the new relationship and looking forward to partnering with Shasta on upcoming digital marketing initiatives.
